Shop & Collect Service Launched by DAA

During early May the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA) launched a new ‘Shop & Collect’ service at Dublin Airport. This service will allow passengers to purchase an item on the outbound leg of their journey, but collect the item on return to Dublin Airport. The service is being offered by the DAA free of charge and is available to all inter EU passengers.

The new service is as a direct result of feedback received by the DAA after surveying customers. The new collection facility is located beside the Dublin Airport car rental desks in the arrivals hall. The service is ideal for large, heavy or bulky items but can be used for purchases of any size or price.

“We are delighted to offer this uncomplicated serve to our customers at a time when air travel is becoming increasingly difficult with LAGs, 24 hour rules, excess weight and extra bag rules.” – Gerry Crawford – DAA Head of Retail

Without doubt this is a great idea, and one that will undoubtedly make travellers lives less complicated. At a time when the DAA are scrapping plans for additional development projects such as the second runway and are facing a serious shortfall in both revenue and passenger numbers, giving passengers another reason to shop in the post check in areas can only be positive.

Unforunately neither the Dublin Airport.com or DAA websites have been updated with information about this new service.
