Dublin Itinerary: Part I

Tourist Information

Below are some suggested itineraries. If you have 5 to 7 days why not take in Dublin, the East and the South which will offer you the Georgian charm of Dublin City, the beautiful scenery of Wicklow and the fishing villages of the south east coast and who could forget the world heritage site at Newgrange.

Dublin is renowned for its literary history. James Joyce in particular left his mark on the town. Lets not forget Samuel Beckett, or the most famous literary masterpiece “The Book of Kells”. Trinity College is well worth visiting, not just to see the Book of Kells, but also because it is the largest library in Ireland and legally holds a copy of every book published in the British Isles.

Many famous writers have passed through its hallowed portals, including Samuel Beckett, Oliver Goldsmith and Oscar Wilde.

Directly opposite Trinity stands the Bank of Ireland, which was the former parliament building. From here why not take a stroll up Grafton Street, trying to avoid the shops if you can!

For those who make it to the top of Grafton Street they will be greeted with Saint Stephen’s Green, a pleasant spot to stop and take a breather in the heart of the city, (many Dubliners who work locally will spend their lunchtimes here in the summer). The small park is situated close to Dublin’s Georgian architecture and is close to the main museums situated around Merrion Square.
