Accommodation in The North West

Dining in the North West

The north-west of Ireland offers a range and quality of accommodation that is hard to match. From luxury five-star hotels to campsites and hostels that cost just a few euro a night, there is something here for every taste and every budget. Throw other alternatives like farm stays, rental cottages and B&Bs into the mix, and you can see that you will be spoiled for choice when you visit the region.

While there is no shortage of luxury spa hotels and country clubs in the region, most hotels are reasonably priced while providing excellent facilities. You will find plenty of homely family-run hotels, while there are also some chains like Clarion Hotels which offer four-star quality at reasonable prices. For self catering accommodation in Cavan, the Pól O'D Villa comes highly recommended.

For the more budget conscious Bed & Breakfasts and guesthouses are a cheaper option. While B&Bs may lack some of the facilities of large hotels, they often more than make up the shortfall in terms of comfort and personal service. Staying in many smaller B&Bs is akin to staying with a family and can really give a taste of Irish life.

If you want to go one step further then you could try an Irish farmhouse holiday. These are similar to B&Bs but you will often as not be staying on a genuine working farm or traditional homestead. If you like the countryside then this could be the choice for you.

If you are planning an extended stay in the north-west then you may want to consider renting a holiday home. These are ideal for families and large groups, and can be significantly cheaper than staying in a hotel or guesthouse.

Alternatively, if you enjoy the great outdoors or are travelling with a caravan you will want to sample some of the many great campsites in the region. You can find a full list of campsites and caravan parks, tips and advice at Caravan & Camping Parks.
