County Cavan - The North West Region of Ireland
Cavan is home to the north-west of Ireland's beautiful Lake Country, a unique landscape that offers some of the best angling to be found anywhere in Europe. Add to this the lush rolling hills, beautiful forest parks and friendly people and it is a great place to stop off for a while on your tour of the north-west of Ireland.
The choice of activities in Cavan is second to none. It is, of course, famous for its lakes and waterways where angling, river cruises, kayaking and other water sports are to be found everywhere. Getting to Cavan is easy. In fact, it is difficult not to pass through it if you are touring the north-west of Ireland. It is just a two-hour drive from Dublin and three hours from Shannon Airport. The county's main towns are also served by an efficient bus service.
